I am penning this blog because of request from my friend, Archana.

I didn’t know that I am going to give up my 20 years of promise when I landed in Melbourne. It happened during my orientation where vegetarian food is mixed up with animal flesh.

I stood up in the queue which is meant for vegetarian. I was very happy at that time as I realised many people were standing in my line.

I generously took enormous amount of food so that I can eat up to the limit in which my abdomen is capable of.

I took lots of vegetables and there was one food item which drew my attention. It was long and cylindrical in shape and I took to try the taste of it.

I waited for my friends to join me and we started eating merrily as the environment was new, I forgot myself in that mood.

I ate all the foods which I took and to my surprise I felt a heavy mass in below my chest like a pregnant women.

I was little uncomfortable and I did realise that in quick time.

I was not enjoying because already my abdomen started making some noise and that was quite new to me.

One of my friend, who is vegetarian noticed that I was not comfortable and asked me about it in Tamil.

That was relaxing as it was Greek & Latin to others.

I told him that I was uncomfortable and he asked me what I have eaten. I told him about the food items I took but I got some problem in describing that long, cylindrical shaped item.

I took him to the spot where it was being served and when he described it I was in despair.

My 20 years of vegetarian life has ended in a sad way. I could it believe it that I consumed non-vegetarian food.  It was “Halal chicken” and it was misplaced in vegetarian food.

Oh! My god… why did this happen to me? I was crying inside and I don’t have any answer for that.
