There are few people in my street who wishes me every day when I ride past their house.  They make my day.  Even though I took only few seconds to see them, I feel very excited when I see them.  I want to give those good people a surprise Christmas wishes. I went to one of the good people house, ringed the bell and I was eagerly waiting for her to open the door. Unfortunately nobody turned up! I left her house and came back after a while and this time I was lucky. She was removing her waste bins. I wished her and I was holding a gift card and pack full of chocolates.  She was very suspicious and asked me whether she knows me and I explained her that I am a bike rider who ride past her house everyday and ‘she’ wishes me every day.  Now she is okay and then I wished her for Christmas. She was happy and she told me that she is surprised.   She then introduced her with her name.  I kept my introduction very brief.

I felt happy because she accepted my wishes and my gift J.  It is very common in India to visit neighbour to exchange gifts and wishes. I know everybody in my street and everybody knows everybody. Australia is very different and neighbour is always a stranger. Even if your neighbour wishes you everyday, when they ring your bell you always ask this question “ Do I know you?”

I wish I could be friend of them.  I still don’t understand this “ Do my neighbour don’t want my friendship or Do they afraid to make friendship with a stranger ?”.  I sometimes think that Aussies don’t want to expand their ‘comfort zone’.

It is very common in most of the countries that people are shop alcoholic. Girls are after clothes, nail polishes and makeups.
Guys are after cool Tees and suits.

But why people pay so much attention for their outlook while they spend little time in developing their inner look.
Clothes make people look more charming and their clothes magnify their beauty.

It is also fascinating to notice that makeups make average look people more beautiful. It is very good to be simple. Lead a simple life and not to fall into
virtual fashion world. It is not necessary to wear those expensive clothes to look “COOL”.

Spending money on fashion clothing, foot wear, sun glasses and other fashion accessories are pure waste of money. “Simplicity always sells”

Instead of updating the clothes every month, lets spend some time to keep our inner self look “cool”. Looks are often deceiving but inner self is like a mirror of ours.

If people love your inner self, they care little about your looks. Inner self refers to your soul, your heart.
People have less time to enrich their inner self because most of their time is spend on partying, clubbing , etc..

there are lot of activities that one can do to develop good inner self. Doing lots of community services, helping other in possible ways. if possible giving some
financial assistance to poor people always help you to have good character.

Indians always cook and eat fresh. Their homemade food have good nutrients and they are hygienic. Hooray!! India .. You are atleast keeping this tradition :)

McDonalds, KFC & Hungry Jacks are ruling the Fast Food industry in Oz. I have watched a documentary “Food Inc” that portrays how food industry in America works. It is terrible to see how they slaughter those pigs and chicken. I was a vegetarian and right now I feel ashamed of myself. I couldn’t justify why I am eating chicken burger now.(It is a sin in Indian Hindu Braymin culture to eat animal flesh. I lost the status of being a Brahmin)

Why western world is so much dependent on fast food? Why western people don’t think about eating a “killed” chicken? Why dont thay think about how chicken, pig and cow are slaughtered? It is cruel and horrible how those animals are killed.

All the fast food outlets contribute lot of fat. Thats why people are having the problem of obesity. Thousands of blogs are written about this and every day somebody is protesting against those food outlets. People are turning their deaf ear and stillllllllllllll eating those JUNK foods!!

People are lazy to cook in their home and a burger cost $5 while a 500gms Brocoli cost $3. What a shame! Why vegeatarian items are priced high in western world while meat product are heavily subsidized? Should we blame the Government or policy makers or big Organisations?

It is upto every individual to decide what is beat to eat and good for their health. Information is out there in the internet and people have to do it is take effort to know it.

It is upto them to wake up until some doctors say ” you have diabetics “. Consuming meat is good for environment.

If you live long enough in some other country other than India then you  should have learned and adapt to your host country.  Most of the people who live short time dont pick up the good things in some culture and few resist to follow the host country culture and everything they do it in Indian way.

It is frustating to see some Indian manners in western country where all Indian behaviours are nasty( wrt host country).  First thing every Indian should learn before going/living in another country is to learn the host country’s culture and manners. Any way this post is about Indians who live long enough and learned about host country’s culture.

Remember “Watching Footy & drinking beer…& ending all your sentences you speak with ” MATE”…” will never make you Aussie !! :) . It is much more than that.

If somebody learn host country’s culture and start embracing it and started to think in “ENGLISH” rather than their mother tongue…they can assure themself that they started to feel the change in their thinking & habit.

The Oz culture is quite different from India. If you are from South part of India, then  culture is flowing in most of their veins.  It is difficult to breach it and if you breach it …your conscience will always question you and embarass you !! If you start following other culture and your parents will almost be shocked . Your parents can’t digest your change.

These situations .. I like to call it” Cultural Dilemna”. You have changed so much and sometimes you question your home country’s culture.

Here goes my advice if you are changed.

  1. Talk to your parents about your change and explain them how you you feel
  2. Make sure your hubby like your thinking and the way you live
  3. Make sure your child speak English. Never teach your kids your home country language.
